Computer certificates

• CCC: Course on Computer Concepts (NIELIT, Govt of India) (Every three months (since July 2026). Basic computer certificate; some state job notices accept it as the computer qualification, so check each notice)
• BCC: Basic Computer Course (NIELIT, Govt of India) (Every three months (since July 2026). Entry-level computer awareness certificate)
• O Level: NIELIT O Level (IT foundation course) (NIELIT, Govt of India) (Twice a year (January and July). Foundation IT qualification; check each job notice for whether it is accepted)
• RS-CIT: Rajasthan State Certificate in Information Technology (RKCL, Rajasthan (exam and certificate by VMOU, Kota)) (Several times a year. Computer qualification listed in many Rajasthan government job advertisements)
• CPCT: Computer Proficiency Certification Test (MAP_IT, Govt of Madhya Pradesh) (Every two months. Required for data entry operator, Assistant Grade-3, stenographer, typist and similar posts in MP government departments)
• GCC-TBC: Government Commercial Certificate, Computer Typing Basic Course (Marathi, Hindi, English) (MSCE (Maharashtra State Council of Examination), Pune) (Twice a year (around June-July and December-January), plus re-exams. Typing certificate for clerk and typist posts in Maharashtra; check each notice for the speed required)

Finance and insurance certificates

• NISM: NISM certification exams, e.g. Series V-A (Mutual Fund Distributors) and Series VIII (Equity Derivatives) (National Institute of Securities Markets, set up by SEBI) (On demand, all year (book a date at a test centre). Required by SEBI for some roles, e.g. mutual fund distributors (V-A) and equity derivatives staff of brokers (VIII))
• NCFM: NCFM financial markets certifications (NAL Academy (formerly NSE Academy), an NSE company) (On demand, all year (choose centre, date and time). Students and market professionals who want a financial markets certificate)
• IC-38: IRDAI pre-recruitment exam for insurance agents (Insurance Institute of India (III)) (On demand, all year (online, at test centres). Needed before appointment as an insurance agent)
• JAIIB / CAIIB: Junior and Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF)) (Twice a year (JAIIB: May and November; CAIIB: May-June and December). Bank employees who are IIBF members; a professional banking qualification)

Teaching and research eligibility

• UGC NET: UGC National Eligibility Test (NTA, for the University Grants Commission) (Twice a year (June and December cycles). Eligibility for Assistant Professor, JRF and PhD admission)
• CSIR NET: Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NTA, for CSIR) (Twice a year (June and December cycles). Eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD admission in science subjects)
• CTET: Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CBSE) (Once or twice a year. Teacher eligibility for classes 1 to 8 in central government schools such as KVS and NVS; CBSE-affiliated schools accept CTET or a state TET)

• NIOS ODE: NIOS On-Demand Examination for Class 10 and Class 12 (National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)) (On demand on set dates (not in April, May, October or November). Learners who want to clear NIOS Class 10 or 12 subjects when ready, instead of waiting for the April or October exams)
